 Description

We heard high pitched calls and then saw the black figure darting up and down over the water.

January 21 2010   Trail Crew  Wildlife     We saw our first Ermine.  It scurried out from a debris pile while we were felling hazard trees.  The tell tale black tipped tail and irridecent white coat made for easy identification.
November 15 2009   John Nolan  Wildlife    While walking across the nursery beds a rustle in the undergrowth drew my attention.  As I approached I was lucky enough to see a woodcock flush out of the vegetation.  A rare find for sure and an indication that our Nature Centre provides much needed habitat for many threatened species.
July 15 2009    anonymous  Flora    Along the forest edge close to the waterfront I saw a little flowering Pyrola.  It is in the wintergreen family and requires the presence of a particular fungal network in the soil to allow it to grow.  This plant can not be propagated without this fungal partner and is therefore very special indeed.  Thank you Gamiing for preserving habitat that can sustain such delicate relationships.
