Kawartha Lake Stewards Association KLSA is a nonprofit volunteer organization of cottagers and year-round residents formed to monitor the water quality of the Kawartha Lakes, from Shadow and Balsam Lakes downstream to Katchewanooka and White Lakes. KLSA represents 19 cottager associations on more than a dozen lakes along the Trent Severn Waterway.

Society of Environmental Journalists The mission of SEJ, a nonprofit based in Pennsylvania, is to advance public understanding of environmental issues by improving the quality, accuracy, and visibility of environmental reporting. While the organization exists to serve its membership of journalists, academics and students, the website is a veritable fountain of publicly available, impartial information such as a searchable Useful Links database with >1500 entries; a daily news digest of environmental stories; a biweekly TipSheet of the latest information on environmental issues of all kinds, including viewpoints from industry, government and advocacy groups; and much more.
