About Us

About Us

GAMIING is a not-for-profit charitable organization. Gamiing employs college and university graduates with up to date knowledge in the field of ecology. Our mandate includes education and hands-on demonstrations of ecologically sound practices related to lakes and lakeshores. GAMIING works with individuals, community groups and other interested partiestoward understanding and participation in practices that balance human needs with the needs of wildlife and natural lake ecosystems.

GAMIING operates from a 100-acre property with a natural shoreline, surrounded by wetlands, forests and meadows. A Conservation Easement has been placed upon the land and put in Trust with the Kawartha Heritage Conservancy to preserve it in perpetuity as a dynamic natural venue to which the public is invited to relax, reflect and participate in interactive demonstrations of low-impact and zero-impact lakeshore living.

Come walk the trails! GAMIING is open to the public seven days a week, year round, during daylight hours.

Why did we create GAMIING?

To practice a philosophy of land and water stewardship.

Out of concern about the destruction of lakeshore habitat.

To preserve a diversity of indigenous plant and animal species.

To serve as an educational and practical resource for the community.

Our Mission

The mission of GAMIING is to share the enjoyment and importance of living in harmony with nature.

Towards that end, GAMIING provides educational experiences that actively engage the community in:

Balancing human needs with nature in our everyday life;

Discovering plants, animals, birds and waterlife;

Becoming stewards of our common environment, including water, land and air; and

Working together with our communities and partners towards a sustainable ecosystem for

  future generations.
