Youth, Family, and Group Volunteering
Youth
Volunteering (14-17)
At Gamiing
youth volunteers are any volunteers aged 14 through 17. Many of the volunteer positions at Gamiing
are open to youth volunteers.
Volunteering at Gamiing is not just about getting your 40 hours of
community service (but you can do that too).
It is about helping to protect the planet so that it will be a safe,
healthy place to live. Youth volunteer
at Gamiing for lots of reasons including:
-
So
they can put it on their resume.
Volunteer experience will help you get a job and help you get in to the
University/College of your choice.
-
To
complete their 40 hours of community service for high school.
-
To
feel good about giving something back.
-
To
gain skills and experience.
-
To
have a chance to spend time outside.
-
To
have fun with friends (and to make new ones).
Family
Volunteering
It can be
hard to find time to volunteer, especially when you have limited time to spend
with your family. One way to volunteer
without losing that precious family time is to do it together. Gamiing encourages families to volunteer
together in a large variety of positions.
At Gamiing a
family is defined as any group of people who feel that they are a family. This could mean parents and children. Or, it could mean a group of close friends, a
couple without children, or a group of extended family members.
So, if you
are thinking about volunteering as a family, take some time and talk it
over. Remember to discuss all the
benefits of family volunteering like:
-
Time
spent together
-
Children
who witness their parents volunteering are more likely to grow up to be
volunteers
-
People
who volunteer are healthier and happier
-
Volunteering
with Gamiing can get your family to spend more active time outside
-
Working
together towards a common goal (like the completion of a project) is an
excellent family bonding experience
-
It
is fun!
Group
Volunteering
At Gamiing
we encourage a variety of groups and organizations to volunteer together. Group volunteer opportunities could include:
-
A
group of employees from a specific company spending a week working together to maintain
and enhance the trails at Gamiing

program throughout the year on Pigeon Lake
-
A
